Consider Volunteering at Textbook Service for Book Return, May 1-4

As things begin to wind down for some of us, other areas are going to be gearing up for some busy times over the next few weeks!

If you have a hour or so and would consider volunteering time at Textbook Service during the busiest times of Book Return from May 1-4, we would truly appreciate the help.

Your job will be to assist students in re-shelving their books to the proper location. It is a great opportunity to talk to our students, hear how their semester went and learn how they are doing at SIUE.

To sign up, visit Volunteer Opportunities.

SIUE Participates in LungSmarter Foundation Asthma Education and Awareness Walk, May 5

Representatives from the SIUE School of Nursing will present an educational puppet show to kick off an asthma education and awareness walk:

10 a.m.-Noon
Saturday, May 5
Glazebrook Park Concession Stand
1401 Stamper Lane
Godfrey, Ill.

The event, sponsored by the American Lung Association in the past, is now being organized by the new non-profit LungSmarter Foundation of Godfrey.

President and founder of LungSmarter Foundation, Jaris Waide, has set a multi-year goal of raising $50,000 for local asthma awareness and symptom prevention education.

This will be her team’s 18th year participating in what she has dubbed the “Alphabet Walk.” Starting with “A is for Asthma” in 2000.

The letter and theme for 2018 is  “R” - “Revitalize, with proper hydration, eating good nutrition, along with doing regular fitness - right for you!”

For more information, visit LungSmarter or contact Waide at jaris@piasanet.
