Attend a Free Hearing Screening, Today and April 20

The SIUE speech-language pathology program is offering free hearing screenings for adults and children age three and older at the Edwardsville Public Library.

The screenings will be conducted in the Edwardsville Public Library’s Large Meeting Room, located in its lower level.

The community offering was made possible by funding from the Edwardsville Community Foundation, which allowed for the purchase of portable audiometers.

Tickets are no longer available online and will not be available at the door on Friday night.

Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion Educational Culture Tour, April 16

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion would like to invite you to join us on our second annual Educational Culture Tour!

On Monday, April 16, we will travel by bus to Brooklyn/Lovejoy, Ill.—one of the oldest black incorporated towns in America—to learn about the relationship between SIUE (specifically Lovejoy Library), abolitionist Elijah P. Lovejoy and the nearby community of Brooklyn/Lovejoy. Faculty tour guide Associate Professor Prince Wells III will share insight as someone who grew up in Brooklyn/Lovejoy. 

Students, faculty and staff are all welcome and encouraged to attend. We will begin boarding the bus in Hairpin Drive at 8 a.m. and return by 11:30 a.m.

Eighth Annual Children's Art Exhibit, April 16-20

The SIUE Early Childhood Center will hold its 8th annual children's art exhibit in connection with the National Association for the Education of Young Children's (NAEYC) Week of the Young Child.

Artists will display their work for family and friends from Monday-Friday, April 16-20 in the Morris University Center Gallery, located on the second floor.

The Department of Theater and Dance presents "The Great Divide," by E. M. Lewis and directed by Chuck Harper, chair of the Department of Theater and Dance.

Celebrate Earth Week by Planting Seedlings at The Gardens

The Gardens at SIUE invites student, faculty and staff volunteers to “put some prairie back in the Prairie State” during Earth Week 2018 on Thursdsay, April 19.

Volunteers are invited to plant oak tree seedlings in the Oak Savannah area of The Gardens, or to sow seeds in the prairie restoration area.

Work sessions begin at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Come in work clothes and old shoes to The Gardens Center, 6 Arboretum Lane. Gloves and tools will be provided for your use.

Work groups will be led by The Gardens’ Master Naturalists and Master Gardeners.

Students Can Apply for Fleishman Diversity Fellowship Through April 20

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion would like to invite students to apply for the 2018 Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellowship through Friday, April 20.

The Fellowship targets college seniors, recent graduates and graduate students from ethnically diverse backgrounds, as well as applicants who have a passion for ethnic or cultural diversity.

Fellows have had the opportunity to work on client projects, media relations, events and new business pitches, among many other practical experiences in the field of integrated communications. Fellows are also engaged in promoting diversity and inclusion across FleishmanHillard, as well as in their local communities.
