Services for Noah Hays

Services are set for Noah Hays, a freshman in SIUE’s College of Arts and Sciences, who died Thursday, Jan. 25 in Monroe County. 

Today’s visitation is from 5:30-7 p.m. at Christ Community Lutheran Church in Columbia with a memorial service immediately following at 7 p.m. 

Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo is managing the arrangements.

Members of the SIUE community are invited to bring a book, and then take one from the inventory available. Book purchases can also be made for a nominal cost.

Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897, and is one of the nation’s oldest and most selective honor societies for all academic disciplines. Chapter 203 was established at SIUE in 1978.

The SIUE Meridian Society Requests Proposals, Deadline Feb. 1

The SIUE Meridian Society is looking to fund projects (up to $5,000) that demonstrate a collaborative effort between an SIUE unit and a community organization.

SIUE colleges, schools, major units, departments and organizations (including student organizations) with an SIUE account are invited to apply for the 2018 Meridian Awards.

The Meridian Award Application/Proposal must be submitted and received by 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1.

Electronic submissions are preferred to meridiansociety@siue.edu

Springboard to Success Student Leaders Wanted, Encourage Students to Apply Now

The 2018 application process for Springboard to Success Student Leaders is now open.

This is an opportunity for student leaders from various areas of campus life to come together to help create a welcoming experience for future SIUE students. The Office of Admissions is looking for students who meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours at SIUE by the end of Spring 2018 and plan to enroll in Fall 2018 classes at SIUE (summer enrollment not required)
  • Good disciplinary and financial standing with the University
  • Good standing with University Housing
  • Good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

The application deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 14.

Leadership Presenters Needed for Spring 2018

Presenters are needed for the Spring 2018 Leadership Programming Series. The Student Leadership Development Program is open to any SIUE undergraduate or graduate student, and covers a variety of topics centered around leadership, communication and career issues.

We have two different programs we are looking to fill. If you are interested in serving as a presenter, please read below and then complete this form getinvolved.siue.edu/submitter/form/start/146410.

Leadership Lunches—will occur on Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. throughout the semester (dates below)

Women’s Leadership InstituteFebruary 20 from 4 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

We are interested in a wide range of topics. Listed below are topics that have been previously offered, but we are interested in other topics as well. Each session is between 45 minutes and 1 hour, and we ask that the sessions not just be a full lecture. We hope that there will be some sort of interactive portion with an activity, discussion, etc.
