Good Buy Book Shop Open Today

The Good Buy Book Shop has received some wonderful donations this year!

Place Your Orders by End of Today for Krispy Kreme Doughnut Sale

SIUE Dance Marathan, which is raising money to benefit Children's Miracle Network, is having a Krispy Kreme Doughnut sale. All orders must be emailed to Carmen Huddleston by 6 p.m. today.

An order must be no less than one dozen doughnuts. The cost is $8 per dozen. Checks can be made out to Children's Miracle Network. For more information and to place your order, please email Huddleston at siue.dm.faculty.alumni@gmail.com.

Kimmel Accepting Nominations for SIUE Student of the Month

The Kimmel Student Involvement Center, in partnership with the Edwardsville Rotary, is pleased to accept nominations for an SIUE Student of the Month.

Individuals selected for this award will be recognized at the Rotary meeting the following month, and will be recognized at the annual Kimmel Leadership Awards Ceremony in April.

SIUE Students must be nominated by someone else. The nominator can be a student, faculty or staff member. No self-nominations will be considered.

Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. To be considered for the November/December Award, applications must be received by Friday, Dec. 2. Any nominees not selected for one month, will be considered for the following months. Awards will be given for September through April each academic year.

"A Good Woman" Opens Dec. 2

"A Good Woman," based on Bertolt Brecht’s The Good Soul of Szechuan, will open at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2 at Metcalfe Theater.

Visiting Scholars Share Takeaways from Semester at SIUE

This semester, SIUE’s International Training Program in Pedagogy is hosting 12 visiting scholars 
from Northwest Normal University (NWNU) and Sichuan University of Science and Engineering (SUSE) in China.

The scholar's will discuss what they learned during their semester at SIUE during their third presentation, being held:

Autism Speaks U Student Event, Dec. 8

Autism Speaks U-SIUE will host a speaker event to educate and spread awareness for autism.

Five speakers will present a different perspective of autism, ranging from treatment to personal relationships. This free event is open to everyone:

SIUE Helps United Way with Community Christmas Donation Drive Through Dec. 14

SIUE is participating as a collection site for the United Way’s 27th annual Community Christmas donation drive.

The program, presented by United Way, is collecting items through Wednesday, Dec. 14 for local people in need this holiday season. A donation box is located in the Lobby of Rendleman Hall, and your generosity is greatly appreciated.

This year, the top needs in the community are:

  • New blankets
  • Towels
  • Household items
  • Diapers

Other items requested include:

  • Non-perishable food items
  • New and unwrapped toys for kids of all ages
  • New clothes, coats and winter essentials such as socks, hats, gloves and scarves
  • Baby formula
  • Personal care items

All of the items collected will go to 15 local agencies, who’ve estimated needs this holiday season for more than 8,000 people in the Riverbend community. The participating community agencies are listed on the donation box.

In addition to collecting items, monetary donations are also accepted and will be used to purchase items on the donation list that are in short supply or not collected.
