Play on Stalking, "Boy Gets Girl," Oct. 17

Solid Lines Productions will present: "Boy Gets Girl"

7 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 17
Morris University Center Meridian Ballroom

Solid Lines Productions will feature a staged reading of Rebecca Gilman's "Boy Gets Girl." The play is a fascinating and disturbing exploration of stalking, and how insidiously stalkers isolate their victims from friends, family and any other potential support systems in their life.

The reading will be followed by a talk-back with the actors, director, and a professional in the field of domestic and sexual violence.

What is a stalker? And what kind of life can a woman lead when she knows she is being followed, obsessively and perhaps dangerously, by one? This is the dilemma facing Theresa Bedell, a journalist in New York, in Rebecca Gilman's tensely fascinating play. When Theresa goes on an awkward blind date with a friend of a friend, she sees no reason to continue the relationship--but the man, a fellow named Tony, thinks otherwise. While Theresa is at first annoyed by his continuing attention, her attitude gradually changes to one of fear and fury when he starts violently to menace her and those around her.

Admission is free. In-kind donations for St. Martha's Hall will be accepted at the door of the performance.

Viewing content is suitable for those 18 years old and older. Content may be disturbing to some audience members. Professional counselors will be present for the duration of the performance as a resource for anyone who seeks assistance.
