Look for SIUE Booth at The Land of Goshen Community Farmer's Market

The Land of Goshen Community Farmer’s Market is held in downtown Edwardsville Saturday mornings through October 15. At the Market, businesses and farmers gather in tents—rain or shine—to sell their locally made products.

This year, the City of Edwardsville graciously offered the University booth space. Each week, a different department will host the SIUE tent to provide information on events, issues or offerings.

Registration is Underway for the Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge

Get your adventure on! SIUE is one of 90 universities nationwide, and the only in Illinois and Missouri, chosen to participate in the 2016 Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge.

The challenge is coordinated by Campus Recreation, and gives SIUE students, faculty, staff and surrounding community members an exciting opportunity to earn points for completing certain activities, win prizes and enjoy healthy activity. Activities range from biking, outdoor climbing and adventure racing, such as color runs and tough mudder competitions, to restoration and trail maintenance, stargazing, yoga and geocaching.

Outdoor Nation anticipates approximately 35,000 participants nationwide.

Pre-registration is underway, via a free account at oncampuschallenge.com or through the free mobile app.

The challenge runs Sunday, Sept. 4-Saturday, Oct. 15. More details are included in this SIUE news story.

Campus to Host Suicide Prevention Awareness Events

SIUE recently secured a Garrett Lee Smith Suicide Prevention grant through SAMHSA.

University initiatives are being offered under the iCare name with support from the School of Pharmacy,
School of Nursing and Counseling Services. iCare has the support of multiple student organizations, academic departments and administrative units.

It strives to involve faculty, staff and students in the conversation about suicide prevention.

Lifelong Learning New Offerings this Semester

Lifelong Learning, a community outreach program effort offered by SIUE faculty, retired faculty and staff for members of the local and surrounding communities, begins its fall series of presentations on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

SIUE faculty, staff, and students are also invited to attend presentations for FREE. Cost is $5 for the public.
