WSIE Changes its Format to the Sound

WSIE radio will soon celebrate its 46th anniversary on the air from the SIUE campus with special programming and events. wSIE took to the airwaves on Sept. 4, 1970.

Now, after being known for more than 30 years as The Jazz Station, WSIE is making some changes in the format to enable the station to reach a broader audience.

88.7 WSIE FM is now called the Sound.

WSIE is delivering a rich blend of jazz, smooth jazz, blues and rhythm and blues to create that distinctive sound.

The station is changing in order to meet budget demands and become self sustaining, according to Interim General Manager Steve Jankowski.

You’re invited to tune in and provide your feedback to Jankowski at stejank@siue.edu

Volunteer to Help Answer Questions for New Students

Student Affairs is coordinating a program to welcome new students and assist them as they navigate our campus -- Ask Me!

Please consider volunteering to help make a positive first impression and get the year started on the right foot.

Volunteers will stand in key locations across campus with an “Ask Me!” sign to answer questions and get students pointed in the right direction for their classes or to conduct business.

Shifts are available in 30-minute slots from 8 a.m.-Noon. Volunteers can sign up for more than one shift.

If you can help, please sign up for your preferred time and location online.
