Celebrate with Employee of the Month Carol Gentry on July 15

Carol Gentry, office support specialist for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is the recipient of the July Employee Recognition Award. Carol was nominated by Dr. Ying Shang, with support from Dr. Cem Karacal, Dr. Chris Gordon and Dr. Keqin Gu.

Please join us in congratulating Carol Gentry as the Employee of the Month:

Friday, July 15
11 a.m.
Engineering Building Atrium

You can also send Carol a congratulatory email to cagentr@siue.edu.

“I believe that Ms. Carol Gentry has demonstrated many great qualities through her performance working at SIUE since 2012," said Ying Shang, PhD and chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. "She always has good and constructive suggestions to assist me in making the best decisions on departmental issues. Besides her regular responsibilities, Gentry took the time to participate in other projects and activities beyond her job scope. For example, she served on the School of Engineering’s Dean Search Committee, and is representing the Staff Senate, providing support for two ECE faculty searches, providing updates to the ECE Advisory Board of student activities to promote good communication and maintain interests and assisting in promoting the student solar car team. She has been a great asset to our School in all of these activities, and we greatly appreciate her taking on these extra responsibilities. Gentry has a very easy-going and enthusiastic personality, and we enjoy having her as a colleague, secretary and friend."

“I feel privileged to receive this recognition and would like to thank Dr. Ying Shang for the nomination, as well as the support of Drs. Cem Karacal, Chris Gordon and Keqin Gu," Gentry said. "The School of Engineering is an exciting place to be, with our bright, diligent students and our dedicated faculty and administration who genuinely care about their students. I would like to acknowledge each of the amazing departmental support staff members, who are extremely generous sharing their experience and assistance with me. Just as gracious are the dean’s office support staff members that embody what are true professional teammates. I admire them all and greatly appreciate their guidance and wisdom. Lastly, I want to thank the ECE Department faculty who represent the best in education: a collegial and respectful atmosphere with each member doing their part. Thank you for including me as a member as it is an honor to work here.”
