Today is the Deadline to Nominate a Phenomenal Woman at SIUE

The SIUE Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion invites you to nominate a Phenomenal Woman at SIUE or in the community. 

The nominee and person nominating them will be invited to attend a luncheon honoring and celebrating women from all walks of life who have made contributions to diversity and inclusion at SIUE, the region, the nation and the world. 

Through the recognition of these contributions, the annual Phenomenal Women’s Luncheon hopes to inspire other women to embrace and promote diversity within their own lives and the lives of others.

Donate Today to Help "Raise the Dough"

The Campus Kitchen at SIUE is competing with 21 other Campus Kitchens across the country to see which campus can “raise the most dough” in the Campus Kitchens Project “Raise the Dough” fundraiser competition through Friday, Feb. 26.

The Campus Kitchen at SIUE relies solely on monetary and in-kind donations to continue fighting hunger in the St. Louis Metro area.

The Strange Crusade of Willis M. Everett is presented by James Weingartner, PhD, emeritus professor in the Department of Historical Studies. An Atlanta attorney was appointed by the U.S. Army to defend 74 Nazi Waffen-SS accused of murdering American POWs and Belgian civilians during the Battle of the Bulge. All were convicted in one of the most notorious war crimes cases, but Everett, convinced the trial was a travesty of justice, fought for years to reverse the decision. Was Everett a heroic fighter for justice or a dupe for the Nazis? You decide.

Well Water Tragedies is presented by Don Anderson, retired director of the Illinois Environmental Resources Training Center at SIUE. Alamosa, Colorado and Crestwood, Illinois have experienced drinking water tragedies within the last nine years. Public well water supplied by the cities to its residents caused illness, future long-term health uncertainty, damage claims in the millions of dollars and death in at least one instance. What happened, why and how could such tragedy have been prevented?

Announcing the Spring 2016 Diversity Film Series, Next One Feb. 24

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion is sponsoring a diversity film series open to the entire University community.

This semester’s series includes a four-part film entitled: The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow, as well as other films including Memory of a Forgotten WarFreedom on My Mind, and a presentation on Strategies for Serving and Supporting Transgender Students. These films will encompass many topics of diversity and inclusion.

The film series is open to faculty, staff and students, with a maximum attendance of 25 people at each session.

University Museum's Show on Display Through March 18

The University Museum at SIUE presents a unique show that highlights art pieces that are a part of the museum’s archived collection.

This year’s show is "(out of) Dialogue" and is curated by Matty Kleinberg, visiting scholar in printmaking from the SIUE Departmenht of Art & Design.
