SIUE Writing Center Encourages Use

As we welcome in 2016 and the spring semester, please encourage students to visit the Writing Center early in the writing process and regularly, if possible.

While requiring your students to come to the Writing Center is welcomed, students should have a clear understanding of why they are being asked to utilize our services as we are not a “fix-it” shop for papers. Instead, consultants work to develop the communication process of a student so that their writing is improved in all environments.

Also, if you are interested in having someone come to your class to give a short presentation about our services or a longer workshop on a particular writing topic, please call 618-659-5105 or email Coordinator Chad Verbais at cverbai@siue.edu.

Sign Up for a Career Development Center Presentation

As you are preparing for Spring classes, don’t forget that the Career Development Center gives presentations on career-related topics! For topic ideas visit our website.

Presentations can be done 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday or by request. We will do our best to accommodate all requests, however there will be times when we have limited staff availability.

Please complete the online form and schedule your Career Development Center presentation today!

If you have specific questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our office directly at 618-650-3708 or tdugan@siue.edu.

Please Welcome and Assist New International Students

SIUE welcomed 42 new international students last week. These students represent 13 countries, including Kenya, Haiti, Russia, Bangladesh and Iran.

Most are graduate students, with a few undergraduate and short-term exchange students.

If you see international students on campus who may need help, your assistance is appreciated!

Feel free to direct any student needing help to the Office of International Affairs located in the Student Success Center Room 0300. They can also contact the office by phone at 618-650-3785.
