School of Engineering Update

Beetner Family Endowment

  • The School of Engineering deeply appreciates the $35,000 contribution for the Beetner Family Endowment that will provide additional resources for student organizations to continue to excel in activities and competitions.

  • Increasingly high enrollment, rising academic qualifications of applicants, and a nearly 100 percent placement of graduates in engineering fields were among the major highlights shared with prospective students during the School’s first Admit Day.

  • Water is a unifying, life-giving resource and is something everyone needs to survive. This underlying message was the reason the Environmental Resources Training Center held its inaugural Water Symposium, which highlighted a broad range of experts.

Student Update

  • The School of Engineering student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers placed among the best in the nation at the Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) Competition. Aptly named The Spirit of Edwardsville, SIUE’s HPV ranked 11th overall among 50 teams, including a 7th place finish in the women’s drag race tournament, and a 9th place finish in the men’s category.

  • Students from the Luke Snell Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) at SIUE took first place for cost category in the Mortar Workability Competition at the 2019 ACI Concrete Convention and Exposition held in Quebec, Canada.
