GRE Review

GRE Test Review: Prepare for the GRE test with our GRE review course taught by knowledgeable instructors. The GRE test review features six sessions that allow for a pre-test, four sessions directed toward the test items and a post-test to assess your readiness for the exam. Two of the sessions will focus on math! Tips and strategies specific to taking the GRE will be shared, as well. Post-course opportunities are available to complete additional work to increase GRE preparedness.

Making Kombucha

Making Kombucha: Kombucha is a variety of fermented, lightly effervescent sweetened black tea drink that is commonly intended as a functional beverage for their health benefits. In this course, you will learn the basics of how to make kombucha at home and be given a starter kit to take with you!

Introduction to American Sign Language and Deaf Culture

Start Date/Time: February 21, 2019 at 7:00 PM

Brief Description: Monday evenings beginning February 21 and running through April 18 from 7-9 p.m.

Introduction to American Sign Language and Deaf Culture: This is an overview of American Sign Language (ASL) and its basic vocabulary, structure, syntax and grammar. You will focus on mastering the basics of fingerspelling, numbers, colors, facial grammar and sentence structure. You will also learn conversational and cultural behaviors necessary to hold a beginning-level conversation in ASL with deaf or hard-of-hearing users of the language. Introductory information about deaf culture will also be presented, along with deaf humor, to provide you with a broad picture of language and culture.

Batman: The History of the Dark Knight

Brief Description: Wednesday evenings beginning March 27 and running through May 1 from 5-6:30 p.m.

Batman: The History of the Dark Knight: This course will examine the history and origins of Batman, his supporting characters and the villains, looking at the actual comics and multimedia throughout the years (radio, film, television, animation, video games). Each session will be dedicated to a different decade (30s and 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s). Some critical writings about the character will be used.

Cake Decorating for Beginners

Cake Decorating for Beginners: Ever wanted to make your family and friends say “wow” when looking at one of your cake creations? Now you can learn the techniques needed to make this dream a reality! Learn how to decorate a cake or cupcakes using a variety of decoration and frosting techniques. All supplies will be provided including textbook and recipes.

Yoga: History and Practice

Brief Description: Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning February 5 and running through April 18 (No Class March 12 or 14) from 5-6 p.m.

Yoga: History and Practice: This beginning yoga class provides the fundamentals and history principles of yoga. Individuals will learn posture alignment, breath work through guided demonstration and reap the benefits of yoga including improve balance, physical strength, flexibility, relaxation, increased energy, and better digestion.

Course Fee: $10 per session or $85 for all 10 sessions
