Little Red

The Tragical Tribulations of Little Red Riding Hood in the Land of the Wolf-King: A True Story

The SIUE Department of Theater and Dance's production* is presented via live stream – tonight through October 3, at 7:30 p.m., and October 4, at 2 p.m.

Director, Chuck Harper

With SIUE's Xfest postponed, Arts & Issues is teaming up with SIUE's Department of Theater and Dance to promote the Department's first live-streamed performing arts event of the year.

Enchantments, vivisection, bad intentions and “good advice” tumble together in this brutal and bizarre fairy tale that has been told in virtually every language for as long as humans have warmed themselves with stories. The tale of the resourceful young Girl, her aging Grandmother, and the bloodthirsty Wolf has been passed down for centuries with each generation re-writing the story according to the sexual and moral politics of the day. This original production, devised and written by the ensemble, uses the many lives of Little Red as a lens to illuminate our own lives, in our own moment - and it will be live-streamed from the Metcalf Theater, a first for SIUE Theater and Dance!

The performance will stream on the SIUE Department of Theater and Dance's YouTube Channel.

There will be virtual talk back after each performance on Zoom. We hope you can join us for this very special event!
