Adeline Mwajuma, 2004-2025; School of Business Student
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is mourning the passing of student Adeline Mwajuma, 21, who died Monday, Nov. 11.
Adeline was a School of Business student and an active member of Black Girls Rock and the National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs (NACWC). She was known on campus for her warmth, creativity and the steady kindness she shared with friends and peers.
Born in Tanzania, Adeline was raised in a home that nurtured curiosity, imagination and joy. She brought that same spirit to SIUE, where she engaged deeply in community-minded work through NACWC and found connection through student involvement and friendships. Those who knew her describe her as fearless, funny and unwaveringly supportive.
She is survived by her parents, siblings, extended family and many friends who will miss her deeply.
Visitation and services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 21, at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1100 College Park Dr., Columbia, Mo. Interment will take place at Columbia Cemetery. Colleagues mourned her loss with a balloon release on Wednesday, Oct. 19 in the Stratton Quad.
