George Woods, 1943-2022; Was Alumnus and Former Admissions Counselor

George Woods, of Edwardsville, died Tuesday, Aug. 30. Woods was 79.
Woods earned a master’s in physical education from SIUE in 1980. He became employed at SIUE in April 1969 and served as an admissions counselor until his retirement in December 2001.
In addition to his time at SIUE, Woods set numerous records in the shot put, was on three Olympic teams and earned a silver medal in the ‘68 and ‘72 Olympics.
