James Trent, 1948-2021; Was Social Work Faculty
James Trent, Jr., of Durham, N.C., died Wednesday, April 14 from complications following heart surgery. He was 73.
Trent was a pioneer in the development of the SIUE College of Arts and Sciences’ social work program. He was a professor of social work at SIUE from 1986-2004.
A private service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24 at Community Covenant Church in West Peabody, Mass. It will be streamed for public viewing.
In lieu of an in-person gathering, a Zoom meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the Samuel P. Hayes Research Library at the Perkins School for the Blind, the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina, or the American Association of University Professors Foundation.
