SIUE Program Featuring Oldest Survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre Featured in St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch previewed the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville March 19 event, “Don’t Let Them Bury My Story: An Evening with Viola Ford Fletcher, the Oldest Living Survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre."< Viola Ford Fletcher will visit the campus for a conversation and book signing.
At 109 years old, Viola “Mother” Fletcher is the oldest of two survivors and will be speaking to students at Lovejoy Library, then will appear on stage for conversation with her grandson and co-author, Ike Howard, and Jana “J.P.” Haynes at Dunham Hall Theater at 6:30 p.m. Following this conversation, Haynes and fellow cast members from the upcoming Broadway production "Selma The Musical: The Untold Stories" will perform a few excerpts from the show. Fletcher will be available for a book signing beginning at 8:30 p.m. directly after the performance.
