O’Fallon, IL Fans of WSIE 88.7 Show Appreciation with Golf Fundraiser
WSIE 88.7 The Sound received a donation today from O’Fallon, IL listeners and golfers who love to tune into the station daily, “to get away from the noise!”
David Gaffney, spokesman for the Derby Brown Golf Club, brought a donation of $500 to Jason Church, general manager, and Robin Boyce, corporate sales director.
“88.7 The Sound is my station,” said Gaffney. “You all have a lot of fans in O’Fallon. I recommended to the group that we give you all funding this year because you keep it sounding so good! We love the jazz music you play and are just so thrilled to meet the people. We are listening to it all the time.”
Gaffney said this year’s golf fundraiser on September 22, was the Derby Brown Golf Club’s third annual event. The tournament, called “For the Love of Golf,” had several veterans and service men from Scott Air Force Base come together to raise funds for two organizations.
The Richard Allen Cultural Center and Museum, in Leavenworth, KC received the second donation. The center honors the history of African Americans in Leavenworth and was first located in the home of U.S. Army Captain William Bly, a Buffalo Soldier during World War I.
WSIE 88.7 The Sound has been on the air since September 4, 1970. The Sound is a 50,000-watt FM station, located on the SIUE campus.
