EDWARDSVILLE – NCERC at SIUE staff was in Washington, D.C. for the second year in a row to award Congressman Bill Enyart (D-IL) a “Fueling Growth” Award from Growth Energy in recognition of his commitment to the ethanol industry.
“From his work on the House Agriculture Committee to his staunch support of the Renewable Fuels Standard, Congressman Enyart has quickly emerged as one of the biofuels industry’s strongest advocates,” NCERC at SIUE Director John Caupert said. “As a resident of the 12th Congressional District, I am proud to be represented by a true champion of ethanol who understands that renewable fuels are vital to our national security, our economy, and our environment.
Enyart was recognized for his work in defense of the Renewable Fuel Standard, as well as his strong support of other biofuels initiatives. The Congressman has also worked with biofuels groups to oppose his opposition to an EPA proposal that would reduce the statutory requirements as mandated by the RFS.
“I am honored to receive a second Fueling Growth Award from Growth Energy,” said Enyart. “It is critical to our Southern Illinois farmers and our economy that we continue to forge new paths for ethanol research and corn-to-ethanol usage. I look forward to continue working on legislation, like my Biofuels Development Act, to further promote corn research.”
The Fueling Growth Awards were presented during Growth Energy’s annual Advocacy Conference, where ethanol producers, suppliers, and researchers from across the country meet to educate and inform legislators about biofuels-related issues and policy.
