SIUE Hosts Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony, Welcomes Seven New Second Lieutenants

As reported on the Illinois National Guard website, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville hosted an Army ROTC commissioning ceremony on May 8, 2026, presided over by Brig. Gen. Lenny Williams, The Assistant Adjutant General - Army and Commander of the Illinois Army National Guard. Seven new second lieutenants were sworn in, five of whom have joined the Illinois Army National Guard.
The five SIUE graduates joining the Illinois Army National Guard are 2nd Lt. Gavynn Baer (Speech Pathology and Audiology), 2nd Lt. Chase Hires (Business Administration and Supply Chain Management), 2nd Lt. Lannah Klaasen (Science of Criminal Justice), 2nd Lt. KloeMae Malson (Business and Cyber Security), and 2nd Lt. Hayden Robinson (Business Administration).
