Maintenance and Update Times
Blackboard is unavailable for routine maintenance at the following times:
- Monday through Saturday mornings from 3:00 A.M. to 4:00 A.M. Please be sure to save or submit any work you have open prior to that time. Any unsaved or unsubmitted work will immediately be lost when the system shuts down.
- Each Sunday morning from 3:00 A.M. to 4:20 A.M., Blackboard is unavailable for an extended period of time as full system maintenance is performed. Please be sure to save or submit any work before this time. Any unsaved or unsubmitted work will immediately be lost when the system shuts down.
These maintenance outages are crucial to ensure a stable and reliable Blackboard system.
Blackboard may be unavailable for comprehensive maintenance at the following times:
- The 3rd Friday of every month beginning at 5:00 P.M. (until completion of the process), Blackboard may be unavailable as system-wide upgrades, including patches and fixes, need to be applied. Please be sure to save or submit any work before this time. Any unsaved or unsubmitted work will immediately be lost when the system shuts down.
Although this outage is scheduled each month, ITS will only perform this action when upgrades are available from Bb. The University community will be notified of the outage at least 7 days in advance.

As needed, updates to Blackboard system building blocks will be conducted on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. No system outage is required for the building block updates. The campus community will be informed via an announcement on the Bb login page that a building block update will take place.
