Get Hands-On Learning Experience at SIUE

At SIUE, we offer so many opportunities to expand your knowledge outside the classroom. SIUE students learn by doing—exploring, discovering, challenging, questioning, discussing. Here are a few ways our students learn outside of the classroom.

  • Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities: Students have the opportunity to participate in research projects guided by professors who are experts in their fields.
  • Study Abroad: SIUE understands the vital importance of an international experience. Students who participate have learned to thrive independently and have improved employment prospects.
  • Service Learning: SIUE students use their academic knowledge and skills to address genuine community needs. Assisting at food pantries, humane societies and community gardens are just a few opportunities for our students.
  • Learn on the Job: A valuable way to gain relevant, real-world experience while completing your degree is through internships and co-ops. SIUE’s Career Development Center can help you find a position that fits your goals and interests.

It’s not enough to just study your area of interest. We believe our students need to be ready to put learning into practice. At SIUE, the goal is to educate the whole student—in and out of the classroom.

Complete the form on this page and an SIUE admissions counselor will contact you about any questions you may have. We can’t wait to meet you!
