U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges of 2018 lists SIUE among the best Regional Universities Midwest for the 14th consecutive year and among the top 15 public universities in that category. The overall scores are based on the reputation of SIUE in higher education, graduate and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving. SIUE is also rated among the top Midwest Regionals for least amount of student debt upon graduation.
Accredited
SIUE holds the same accreditation as many of the nation’s most prestigious schools, but we charge significantly less for tuition. SIUE is accredited by over 35 accrediting agencies. Our School of Business holds the prestigious AACSB International accreditation. Only five percent of worldwide business schools achieve this level of accreditation. Our School of Engineering maintains accreditation from ABET—the same standards used at MIT, Stanford and other top engineering schools.

SIUE is committed to educating a distinguished and diverse array of master’s and doctoral students. We offer 87 graduate programs, 12 graduate certificates and 14 doctoral programs. Our graduate programs emphasize real-world experience through original scholarly activity, student-faculty scholarly collaborations and partnerships with communities, governments, industries and other universities. SIUE ranks first for research expenditures among all Emerging Research Institutions in the Midwest, according to the National Science Foundation.
