IMPACT Pathways
The IMPACT Pathways Program offers three pathway programs for learning and professional development for one’s career; one for faculty, one for staff, and one for community members. This professional development program prepares our campus community to offer the best place for our students and our surrounding community for our every community member. At its core, the IMPACT Pathways equips participants with the skills to implement the changes necessary to foster the culture of care woven into SIUE’s values. IMPACT Pathways is composed of three tracks: Campus Culture of Care and Community (4C) Inclusive and Responsive Teaching (IRT), and a community track that is still in development.
Faculty Pathway
The Inclusive and Responsive Teaching (IRT) Pathway is designed to equip all colleagues in teaching roles on campus with the best practices to create an inclusive learning environment for student success. This pathway explores Identity Dimensions of Diversity in the Classroom; Backward Design, Accessibility, and Transparency as Key Components of a Course; Active Learning, Belonging, and Rapport; and Metacognition, Mindset, and Assessment. The capstone project in this pathway is Innovation in Equity-Minded Pedagogy and involves a course redesign implementing inclusive teaching practices throughout the entire course to improve student success.
Staff Pathway
The Campus Culture of Care and Community (4C) pathway is designed to equip all campus community members with the best practices and information needed to make our campus a psychologically safe and comfortable environment for students to belong, grow, and learn. In this pathway, all non-student colleagues will engage with content focused on Identifying and Confronting Bias, Fostering a Culture of Care, Learning and Teaching Growth Mindset, and How Physical Space Impacts Belonging. This pathway culminates in a capstone project where community members are tasked with building out a Cross-Campus Leadership Project that develops a tool, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), or resource that facilitates inter-unit connection that solves a problem that could impact student outcomes.
Community Pathway
The pathway for community members is still in development but will be designed to equip all community members who participate with the best practices and information needed to make their organizations a psychologically safe, comfortable, and approachable environment for their employees to belong and professionally grow and develop. In this pathway, all participants will engage with content focused on Identifying and Confronting Bias, Fostering a Culture of Care, Learning and Teaching Growth Mindset, Intercultural Competence’s Impact on the Workplace, and How Physical Space Impacts Belonging. This pathway culminates in a capstone project where participants are tasked with building out an Organizational Leadership Project that develops a tool, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), or resource that facilitates connection among colleagues/employees solving a problem that could affect organizational outcomes.
