International Housing
University Housing is excited to work with international students at SIUE. Our office works with both International Admissions and International Student and Scholars Services to assist international students with a successful transition to SIUE and engaged environment within their housing community.
Housing Options
Students are eligible to live in different areas of University Housing based on their high school graduation date. Generally, students who have graduated high school within the last academic year are required to live in one of our first year residence halls: Bluff, Prairie, and Woodland Halls. Students living in Bluff, Prairie, or Woodland Halls are required to purchase a residential meal plan. All other students, including graduate students, can apply to live in either Evergreen Hall or Cougar Village Apartments. Floor plans and amenity information is located on each of the housing community pages.
Students are required to bring their own personal belongings including but not limited to linens, cookware, clothing, electronics, bathroom and toiletry items, etc. For a complete list, please visit our What to Bring/What Not to Bring list.

The housing application payment is comprised of a non-refundable $25 application fee, $200 advance payment which is applied toward your housing charge, and $75 deposit. Students are encouraged to apply for Housing early, as types of spaces are lmited.

Students cannot move into the University Housing the same day they apply.
Early Arrivals
For fall 2022 - spring 2023, students living in Bluff, Prairie, and Woodland Halls will check in on Wednesday, August 17 and Thursday, August 18. Cougar Village and Evergreen Hall residents can check in on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20. New international students who arrive on the preferred international arrival dates (for fall 2022, Monday, August 15 and Tuesday, August 16) will not be charged an early arrival fee for arriving on the preferred dates to participate in international orientation, but are still required to submit an early arrival request. Arrivals prior to August 15 will incur a nightly early arrival charge.
Students planning to arrive prior to the dates in their assignment email are required to submit an Early Arrival Request. You will need to be logged into your SIUE Microsoft Account (SIUE email account) to submit the request. Any early arrival requests with dates prior to August 1 may need to apply for the 2nd five-week summer term and will likely have to stay in a temporary space. International students are strongly encouraged to request a check-in on the preferred arrival days of August 15 or August 16. Early arrival requests are granted based on availability.
The nightly cost for early arrivals are based on your housing assignment and can be found below. All charges will be applied to your student account after you check in to University Housing.

Students are required to submit a break housing request form online for review and approval.
In most cases, residents who are requesting break housing will be consolidated to Cougar Village for safety, access to a kitchen, and more. Please note dining options are very limited during break periods and University closures.
Late Departures
Students must check-out by the last day of their housing contract. The link to request a late departure will be added here once it is available. Approvals are based on space availability. The nightly cost to depart late is the same as the daily early arrival costs found above. International students are strongly encouraged to make arrangements to check out by the last day of the housing contract to avoid additional charges.
