Cougar Fan Zone Guidelines
SIUE welcomes alumni, students, fans and friends to participate in the Homecoming Cougar Fan Zone before the homecoming soccer game. This energetic event is located on the east parking lot at Korte Stadium. The following guidelines are designed to enhance your experience and ensure a safe and fun event.
General Guidelines
- Individuals are responsible for reviewing and must abide by these guidelines listed as part of the official University Policies and Procedures and are responsible for such compliance. This document is an abridged version of the University Policies and Procedures – Alcoholic Beverages.
- All roadways and access points must be clear at all times. Guests may not interfere with traffic flow and/or emergency vehicles.
- Per state law, smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not allowed anywhere on SIUE property, including Korte Stadium.
- All forms of solicitation or distributions of giveaway items are prohibited without prior approval by SIUE Athletics.
- Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: charcoal grills, fryers, drones, model aircrafts, kites, any remote controlled or tethered flying objects, fireworks, laser pointers/lights, firearms and weapons of any kind.
- No animals are permitted, with the exception of the following: service animals for persons with disabilities; animals used by law enforcement or emergency personnel in the exercise of their official duties.
- In case of emergency, dial 911. For non-emergencies, call University Police at 618-650-3324.
Hours of Operation and Parking
- Designated Cougar Fan Zone locations are reserved by Kimmel Student Involvement Center.
- All vehicles must park in the north lot at Korte Stadium. Overnight occupancy is prohibited.
- The Cougar Fan Zone opens three hours prior to the start of the homecoming game and ends at game time (4-7 p.m.).
- Vehicles may unload items on the east lot at Korte Stadium from 2:30-3:30 p.m. but are not allowed to stay parked on the lot during Cougar Fan Zone activities.
- Any vehicles trying to unload items after 3:30 p.m. will be instructed to carry their belongings from the north lot onto the east lot.
- At 7 p.m., guests are expected to attend the game by either entering Korte Stadium or moving all individuals to the berm area.
- Guests can return to the Cougar Fan Zone area with their vehicles at the beginning of the second half of the soccer game.
- Anyone wishing to load out before the beginning of the second half will need to carry items back to their vehicle in the north lot.
Event Safety
- The SIUE Police Department has partnered with a third party security company to help provide and maintain a safe and comfortable experience for all Cougar fans.
- All individuals entering the Cougar Fan Zone area will need to provide valid state-issued identification showing proof of age.
- All individuals who are over the age of 21 will receive a wristband.
- All bags, purses, coolers, etc. will be searched upon entry to ensure compliance with all Cougar Fan Zone Guidelines, SIUE policy, and state and federal law.
Spaces and Activities
- Organizations must register in person for their assigned Cougar Fan Zone space(s) in the Kimmel Student Involvement Center.
- Each organization is allowed up to two (2) Cougar Fan Zone spaces.
- Spaces are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Tents and tables are available upon request for reserved Cougar Fan Zone spaces.
- Any loss or damage to tents and tables will result in a fee to your organization to replace the item(s).
- Platforms and stages are prohibited.
- Grilling is permitted. Only propane tank grills are allowed on the parking lot. Open fires such as fire pits, charcoal grills, deep fryers or any oil-based cooking are prohibited.
- Food trucks will be available for the purchase of food and beverage.
- Entertainment will be provided.
- Trash containers will be located throughout the east lot. Please do not litter, dispose of your trash.
- Failure to leave area clean when you depart may result in a fee to your organization related to clean-up.
- Restrooms and hand washing stations will be available throughout the east lot.
Alcohol Policy
- Alcohol consumption is only allowed in the Cougar Fan Zone.
- Only persons twenty-one years of age or older may possess or consume alcohol.
- No persons shall sell, give or deliver alcohol to another person under twenty-one years of age.
- Coolers are welcome, however kegs (small or large) are prohibited.
- Only canned beverages are allowed on the property. Glass bottles and other glass containers are prohibited.
- Exceptionally large containers designed to hold multiple individual servings are prohibited.
- Devices used to increase the consumption of alcohol (e.g. funnels) and drinking games of any sort are prohibited.
- University Police will be monitoring the east and north lots, all items listed above that are prohibited will be confiscated.
- Guests who appear to be impaired may be questioned by University Police, which may result in removal from the area and a City of Edwardsville citation.
- Individuals are to conduct themselves responsibly before, during, and after the event, particularly when consuming alcohol. This includes driving to and from campus for homecoming and athletic activities.
- Be smart. Drink responsibly. Designate a sober driver or call an Uber/Lyft to get home safely.
