An Investigator means the project director or any other person regardless of title who is responsible for the design, conduct, or reporting of a project funded by the sponsor, which may include collaborators, subcontractors, and consultants. However, some sponsors, such as the Department of Energy, may expand this definition to include any person who participates in a project.
