Compliance Highlight: Export Controls and Travel
Posted October 27, 2021
With airports buzzing again and the return to more normal travel conditions in sight, university personnel planning travel associated with a grant should be proactive in their travel behavior before, during and after their trip. The SIUE Export Controls site contains valuable situational awareness information and prevention tips for those considering travel.
For those carrying electronic devices while traveling internationally, extra precautions may be warranted. The likelihood of being compromised by malware is greatest when traveling outside of the U.S. As of February 1, 2019 all SIUE faculty and staff traveling to any of the countries listed below must use the SIU Clean Laptop Program. These clean laptops provide an extra level of security and assist with supporting export control compliance.
- Iran
- Syria
- Sudan
- North Korea
- Cuba
- Ukraine (Crimea Region)
- China
- Russia
