Funding & Compliance Highlight: FAA Publishes New Online Training
On April 6th, the FAA published a new online training course. Drone pilots who are already certified 107 pilots no longer need to take an in-person recurrent exam at a PSI test center. Pilots will still have to take the test every 24 months, but it will now be through a free online training course from the FAA. This training was released on Tuesday and can be found here.
To take the test, you will first need to create a free account at FAASafety.gov. After, you will need to go to their courses page, find the course titled “ALC-677: Part 107 Small UAS Recurrent Non-Part 61 Pilots” and enroll. The first part is training, and it takes about 2 hours to complete. After the training, there is a 90-minute exam. The exam is multiple choice with 45 questions. You can take the exam as many times as you need to, but you need to score a 100% to receive the certificate.
Please note, this training is only for those who have taken the Part 107 exam and need to remain current. For those who are taking the exam for the first time, this training will not satisfy the requirements to become a certified Part 107 pilot for the first time.
