Compliance Highlight: SIUE’s Responsible Conduct of Research Tools
This month, ORP is highlighting available Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) education and mentoring tools. This week focuses on the training resources available to student researchers working on a project.
Responsible conduct of research is an important aspect of training for student researchers. It helps develop ethical research practices that carry through researchers’ careers. SIUE offers a range of resources for student researchers to aid in the development of ethical research practices. SIUE uses CITI Training to provide a basic training course on RCR. There are three courses available depending on a student’s discipline – Humanities, Physical Sciences, and Social Behavioral.
SIUE also encourages the use of discussion materials available on our RCR website. There are interactive videos like The Lab, presentations on what responsible conduct of research is and how it contributes to research integrity, and case studies published by the Office of Research Integrity. All of these materials and more provide students with tools needed to help promote a culture of research integrity.
Next week, ORP will highlight a new resource coming out that includes a responsible conduct of research checklist.
