COVID-19 Assigned Research Time

Based on a recommendation from the Academic Continuity Task Force, for Academic Year 2022, the Graduate School will award up to two units of assigned time to enable assistant and associate professors to address promotion and tenure research activities that have been negatively impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic.
One unit equals one course buyout or one 50% time research assistant. Applicants may request any combination of the two types of units (with a maximum of two units) within the project period of August 16, 2021 (fall 2021 semester) to May 15, 2022 (spring 2022 semester).
Applications must be submitted before May 24, 2021.
Applications will be reviewed by respective chairs and deans. Each will independently review and rank each proposal and provide comments. The Graduate School will review all applications and recommendations prior to making final award decisions.
As a condition of the award, all successful applicants will be required to submit a final report in Qualtrics outlining the successful completion of activities indicated in the application. This report is to be completed no later than August 1, 2022.
NOTE: Applicants must have met all requirements for all previous awards from Graduate School internal programs to be eligible.
