Frequently Asked Questions about the SIUE Experience
Is the SIUE Experience required?
It is highly encouraged that students attend all the events throughout the SIUE Experience in order to meet other students and learn how best to navigate campus.
Why do I need to go to the SIUE Experience?
The SIUE Experience is an entire weekend dedicated to helping you transition to the SIUE community. By participating in different events and activities throughout the weekend, you will be able to meet new students, faculty and other members of the campus community. Engaging in the SIUE Experience will also prepare you to succeed as you begin classes.
What if I have work or important family obligations during the SIUE Experience?
If you have other obligations during the SIUE Experience, it is okay for you to miss some of the events and activities. Throughout the weekend, there will be multiple opportunities for you to join in the fun! However, if you are unable to attend the sessions, important information will be available through online modules in Blackboard.
I am a new transfer or graduate student. Is the SIUE Experience for me?
Yes! The SIUE Experience is for all new students on campus. If you are an incoming transfer or graduate student, we will have specific sessions for you during the SIUE Experience.
What is an Experience Guide?
Experience Guides are student leaders that will guide and support you during the SIUE Experience. Experience Guides help facilitate different events and activities throughout the weekend, as well as serve as a peer mentor and resource to new students.
How do I find out who my Experience Guide is?
You will receive more information about your Experience Guide in August. Continue to check your SIUE email, as this will be the main form of communication for everything related to the SIUE Experience. Experience Guide information will also be available in the SIUE mobile app.
How will I get more information about the specific events happening during the SIUE Experience?
Detailed schedules will be available on the SIUE Experience website closer to the program. You will also receive updates in your SIUE email. Visit the schedule page for a peek at last year’s schedule.
