IE MS Research Day - 2020
Posted February 18, 2020
Two IE graduate students, Ayperi Dos (Advisor: Dr. Onal) and Yigit Yilmaz (Advisor: Drs. Lee and Yuan), presented their MS thesis research works during 2020 IE Research Day event on February 18, 2020. Ayperi’s research, titled “Comparison of different biomechanical models to identify the phases of the vertical jump”, introduced analysis of vertical jumping motions using state-of-the-art motion capture system. Her research has its focus on the test of a hypothesis that kinematic method using 8 segment anthropometric model with 14 markers outperforms other methods for arm swing jump. Yigit presented a novel algorithm that can quickly and accurately align the views captured from BIMS (building information models) and the construction field. He concluded his presentation that with this novel method we can record positions of interior components, visualize recorded position and provide target for safe post drilling operations. Both presentations provided audience with in-depth insights on high quality MS research works conducted in SIUE IE program.
