IE Class of 2025's Mirella Eldridge Featured as Commencement Speaker
Posted December 15, 2025

The IE department is extremely proud to share that the class of 2025's send-off was led by none other than our own Mirella Eldridge. In her speech, Mirella noted the power of 'saying yes' and the doors it opened for her. She highlighted how engineering, and Industrial Engineering specifically, is a field that requires communication ability in addition to technical skills, as it connects people, systems and ideas. She credits falling in love with IE to her initial exposure in IE 106, and the guidance of Dr. Sinan Onal, department chair.
Mirella was also featured in the fall 2025 edition of the alumni magazine. The article highlighted her great involvement on campus, including as a student ambassador and as a leader in the Society of Women Engineers. This past spring, Mirella was selected as the Outstanding Senior by the department as well as being awarded the Kay Guse Founder's Award and the Bill and Jean Luan School of Engineering Scholarship.
Thank you for your many contributions to the department, Mirella! We wish you the best in all to come.
