The mission of the Department of Construction is to prepare its students to assume positions leading to increasing managerial responsibility in a wide variety of firms and agencies which plan and execute construction projects.
Program Objective
The objective of the Department of Construction is to provide graduates with the engineering and business knowledge and skills necessary to coordinate the multifaceted aspects of the construction industry.
Strategic Goals
- Academic programs - Maintain high standards of academic excellence in the construction management program that will attract well-qualified students and faculty and meet the needs of the construction industry.
- Students - Enhance the quality of incoming students to produce graduates that are highly valued by industry, and qualified to pursue graduate study if desired.
- Faculty - Recruit and retain faculty known and respected not only for dedication to undergraduate instruction, but to the continued professional development of technical professionals in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
- Industry Outreach - Maintain effective outreach to alumni and the greater construction industry.
Industry Advisory Board
The Industry Advisory Board meets biannually to discuss the status of the construction management program and the surveying specialization. The board reviews the current program curriculum, assessment data and report, current and emerging construction technology, employment opportunities and needs, faculty status, and department needs.
