Instructor-Lab Manager

Job Description/Responsibilities
The Instructor-Lab Manager is responsible for the management and operation of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering laboratories. This position is also expected to teach sections of laboratory or other courses as assigned, along with teaching the use of the equipment and software in the labs. Other duties include: 1) to give safety training to students and faculty on the use of various equipment and maintain a clean and safe working environment, 2) to support the laboratory courses by ensuring that the equipment and software are well maintained, 3) to assist and supervise students in the fabrication of parts and devices for their senior-design projects, 4) to obtain quotes to purchase equipment for the Department, 5) to keep the laboratory computers and equipment updated, 6) to organize and keep track of all equipment and tools of the Department.

Minimum Qualifications
The candidate should have a Master's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
In addition to teaching lab courses, the candidate is expected to have the following knowledge and skills to perform the required tasks:
1- Experience and knowledge in computer-aided manufacturing, CNC, and PLC programming; familiarity with rapid prototyping and 3D printing.
2- Experience in conventional and CNC machining, grinding, milling, and welding, preferably with certified training.
3- Extensive background in mechanical or industrial engineering to purchase the right equipment or to repair existing equipment.
4- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Terms of Appointment
Full-time, non-tenure track, twelve-month, beginning July 2017.
