CSPA Visit Day-Friday, March 6, 2020

About Graduate Assistantships

A graduate assistantship (GA) provides practical experience to your degree along with financial assistance. All GA positions offer a tuition waiver and a stipend to help subsidize the cost of attendance. All GA positions offer a tuition waiver, but stipends vary by position. Some positions offer other compensation such as professional development, room/board, or a meal plan.

On-Campus Opportunities

You will find a variety of assistantships in both student and academic affairs. The SIUE CSPA program offers a majority of its GA positions on-campus within the Divisions of Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs, and Student Affairs.

Off-Campus Opportunities

A network of off-campus positions exists that facilitate opportunities to live and work in St. Louis or are neighboring institutions. The SIUE CSPA program partners with the University of Missouri St. Louis, St. Louis College of Pharmacy, St. Louis Community College, St. Louis University, Fontbonne University, Blackburn College, and Greenville University. All of these institutions are within a 35-minute drive to campus.

About the Program

The CSPA program at SIUE has a strong focus on social justice and student development, grounded in the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competencies. The CSPA program fosters a strong commitment to increasing awareness of the diversity of student populations and to social justice. Diversity and social justice concepts are specifically addressed across the curriculum and more intentionally within two specific courses (College Student Development and Diversity in Higher Education). The CSPA program is dedicated to addressing the intersectionality of identity, gender expression, gender preference, socioeconomic class, privilege, and culture.

By participating in this event, you will have the opportunity to be hosted by other current CSPA students near campus and receive preference for first-round interviews for all available CSPA assistantships at SIUE. CSPA Visit Day provides candidates with the opportunity to be interviewed by assistantship providers and discover the SIUE CSPA program. Candidates will also have the opportunity to spend time with faculty and students in the CSPA program as well as student affairs professionals on campus.

Candidates do not need to be admitted to attend but must demonstrate a strong interest in our program before registering to attend the program. Admission to the program is coordinated by the program faculty as a separate process. To apply, please visit our admissions page
