Admission Requirements

The CSPA program engages in a holistic admissions process. Requirements for admission to the graduate program in College Student Personnel Administration are a bachelor’s degree and a GPA of 3.0 or above during the last two years of undergraduate work. Applicants with an undergraduate GPA between 2.5 and 2.9 may be accepted for admissions if they demonstrate potential for success. Rolling admissions is available and No Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for admission. 

Applicants are required to submit a completed SIUE Graduate Application along with the following:

(1) all undergraduate or graduate transcripts
(2) a list of professional experiences or a resume;
(3) a written statement about two pages, double-spaced in length discussing why you have selected SIUE and a career in higher education. 

Part-Time or Full-Time Study
The CSPA program engages in rolling admission throughout the year for fall, spring, and summer semesters enrollment. For more information on applying please see Graduate Admissions
Part-Time Students

Part-time students may enroll Fall, Spring, or Summer semester and full-time students may as well depending on space capacity limitations (rolling admissions).  The deadline is approximately one month before the start of classes for each semester.  

Part-time students must successfully complete 27 hours of content courses consisting of 9 elective credits, a professional portfolio, and a 6 credit final research project. Praticum (internships) are not required if they have prior professional experience in higher education or a related field. 

Full-Time Students

Full-time students begin in a cohort model each fall semester and typically obtain a graduate assistantship. Full-time study is also available in the spring semester depending on enrollment capacity. 

Full-time students must successfully complete 27 hours of content courses consisting of 3 elective credits, a professional portfolio, 6 credits of practicum (internship), and a 6 credit final research project.  Full-time students are encouraged to seek a graduate assistantship through our placement process at the Grad Visit Day each spring semester or by contacting our Graduate Program Director

Assistantship and Fellowship Deadlines
Students interested in graduate assistantships for full-time study should complete an application BEFORE March of each spring semester. Graduate Assistantships are available through the CSPA Grad Visit Day placement process and is listed on our website. Any students interested in the Competitive Graduate (research assistantship) or the Graduate Scholar Award should contact the Graduate Program Director for sponsorship.
