Bias Incident Reporting (BIRT)
If you feel that you have been subject to a verbal, written, physical or psychological threat on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital status, civil union status, domestic partnership status, atypical heredity or cellular blood trait, military service or veteran status, please utilize the link below to report the incident.
What happens after reporting?
A member of the Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT) will contact the individual who submitted the report to provide support and resources in dealing with the incident. The incident, if warranted, may be referred for further action to other areas of the University (University Police, Dean of Students, or the Office of Equal Opportunity, Access (EOA) and Title IX Coordination). All efforts will be made to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, but if additional investigation is required, it may prolong the process.
If you have additional questions about the process, please contact Lindy Wagner, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chair of BIRT: linwagn@siue.edu
