Budget Communications
Since his 2022 arrival, Chancellor James T. Minor has been committed to listening to and learning from the SIUE community. As he realizes opportunities for growth and improvement, Chancellor Minor is establishing new standards for campus communication to facilitate greater transparency and engagement.
To that end, Chancellor Minor is committed to improving budget transparency and collaboration to ensure SIUE’s strong and vibrant future. Through an on-going budget analysis and early insights from an external consultant, structural elements of SIUE’s current budget model have resulted in consecutive years of deficit spending—this is commonly referred to as a structural deficit.
The good news is that the current budget challenges can be overcome with planning, principled action, and a collective commitment to ensure a strong future for SIUE. Consultation and planning are underway to solidify action steps that will ensure a fiscally sustainable path forward. Important in this endeavor is that campus community members have a clear understanding of the challenges and the strategic goals.
