Giving Sustainability

Sustainability at SIUE
Whether through Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certifiable construction projects in its buildings or the campus bike share and recycling programs initiated by the Sustainability Advisory Group, SIUE encourages environmental preservation and stewardship, while promoting scholarship.

SIUE is dedicated to meeting the needs of its more than 14,000 students. In uncertain economic times and within a competitive global marketplace, the University is looking to its more than 100,000 graduates, as well as community leaders, business partners and other allies to help our future graduates learn and grow in a fresh, exciting environment. Your gifts and support are needed to help SIUE retain its importance in the region as a premier metropolitan University.

Some examples of support that are making a meaningful difference in the lives of the University’s faculty, staff and students include:

  • A $500,000 gift to the Department of Psychology from the Family of Rudolf Dreikurs which will fund visits to SIUE from eminent scholars from around the world.
  • A lead gift of $300,000 from 1972 alumnus Ed Grady for the development of the new School of Engineering Student Design Center, which will provide much-needed space for students involved in senior design projects, collegiate competition teams, clubs and organizations.
  • A six-figure gift from Tom Foster, PhD, professor of physics, and Ann Robertson, to provide an adaptive learning classroom that allows for the continuous reimagining of teaching and learning across all academic disciplines.
  • A $50,000 endowment from former Interim Chancellor Stephen Hansen, PhD, and his wife Julie, associate professor emerita, creating a Collections Endowment at SIUE’s Lovejoy Library and supporting the Emeriti Faculty Association Endowment.

There are many reasons to give and several options available through the SIUE Foundation to achieve your philanthropic goals. For more information, contact the SIUE Foundation, (618) 650-2345 or
