This free, half-day event will provide manufacturers, distribution and logistics companies, economic development representatives, developers and service providers a background on the economic advantages that can be achieved through the use of a foreign-trade zone.

The FTZ program offers tariff benefits and other savings to U.S. exporters and importers, providing incentives to retain and create jobs in the region. Specific benefits include:

  • Import duty reduction or elimination on products manufactured, assembled, or processed in an FTZ
  • Duty reduction or elimination on imported goods warehoused in an FTZ
  • U.S. duty elimination when goods are re-exported from an FTZ to a foreign country or another FTZ
  • Improved cash flow
  • Simplified customs procedures, allowing expedited movement of inventory and supporting a just-in-time inventory environment
  • Scrap and waste benefits
  • Duties on defective or damaged goods avoided
...and much more

These advantages are especially important for the following industries:

  • Automotive
  • Apparel
  • Communications
  • Electronics
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Industrial machinery

The morning's speakers will include the President of the National Association of Foreign-Trade Zones, a Foreign Trade Zone legal expert, and a successful Foreign-Trade Zone administrator from northern Illinois. The event's included luncheon will feature a "Round Table Discussions with the Experts," and the event will conclude with site tours of local Foreign Trade Zone facilities at Gateway Commerce Center and America's Central Port.

Representatives from the IL International Trade Center Network, IL Office of Trade, IL Dept. of Commerce and the U.S. Dept. of Commerce will also be available for one-on-one consultations.

The event is free but limited to the first 100 people due to space limitations - so sign up early!
