Department of Computer Management & Information Systems
Welcome to the Department of CMIS
Businesses and organizations depend on information systems to organize and maintain the data needed to solve business problems. There is an increasing demand for information systems professionals – problem solvers who combine their technology background with business expertise. Our goal is to provide you the opportunity to grow and learn while you acquire the computer and business competencies that can make you successful as an information systems professional.
CMIS majors are currently in high demand. Our business community needs more information technology workers. This major equips students with the necessary skills to fill in-demand careers such as systems analysts, systems administrators, database administrators, web developers and several others.
Faculty in the CMIS department are nationally recognized and dedicated to providing an excellent educational experience for all students. Each faculty member worked, on average, 10 years in the IT industry prior to earning a PhD. This practical experience in the field of IT enhances both faculty teaching and student learning.
Our computerized classrooms let you gain experience in using leading-edge computer software and hardware that we acquire through our academic alliances with Microsoft and Oracle Corporation. This enables you to learn to use the same software tools that you will use when you begin to work in the IT industry. Several courses in the CMIS curriculum stress hands-on learning of cutting-edge technologies.
Our undergraduate specializations and graduate programs are tailored to meet your needs as a student. A graduate specialization in project management or business analytics will further enhance your professional growth. Please feel free to contact me or any of our faculty if you have questions.
