Alumni News:
Samantha (Thompson) Doolin, MA in museum studies PBC '16, is now museum coordinator for the Glen Carbon, Illinois Heritage Museum.
Nathan Huegen, BS '06, is the director of educational travel for The National WWII Museum in New Orleans. Under normal circumstances, his position involves traveling around the world to lay the groundwork for battlefield tours. Through this position, Nathan has been able to work with historians and authors such as John McManus, Craig Symonds, Keith Lowe, Donald L. Miller and several others. In addition to touring, Nathan has also found himself working on interpretive materials on the Pacific campaigns. During this non-travel phase, he is helping to develop interpretive signage to describe the two-month long battle for the small island of Peleliu. The museum hopes to install the signage in Peleliu in 2022.
Adam Hill, PhD (University of Connecticut), MA '09, published an article, "'The Battle for Abu Simbel': Archaeology and Postcolonial Diplomacy in the UNESCO Campaign for Nubia" in the Journal of Contemporary History (April 2021). It will appear in print in a forthcoming special issue on "Science Diplomacy."
