Professional Affiliations and Student Organizations
Within the SIUE HESA program, students will immerse themselves in the study of college student development and college administration. They will enter a community of emerging professionals who are dedicated to a similar career passion.
NASPA Graduate Associate Program
To facilitate a strong sense of the community, the HESA program participates in the NASPA Graduate Associate Program and has a professional honor society for student affairs practice, Chi Sigma Alpha. These programs and organizations hold meet ups, speakers, and other professional development events. Visit the NASPA website to learn more.
Chi Sigma Alpha
The Chi Sigma Alpha Student Affairs Honor Society International is comprised of graduate students, alumni, faculty and student affairs professionals. In the fall of 2001 at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia Chi Sigma Alpha was founded to promote and recognize excellence in academics, research and service to the profession of student affairs. The Alpha Alpha Chapter at SIUE was founded in 2016. The Alpha Alpha chapter holds social and professional events, as well as an annual membership induction.
Student Affairs Graduate Alliance
The Student Affairs Graduate Alliance (SAGA) is the overarching programmatic organization to the CSPA program at SIUE. SAGA began in January of 2019, to incorporate an inclusive approach to programming for the HESA program. Membership within SAGA is open to all students currently enrolled in the HESA program, and students can attend meetings, events, workshops and additional programs implemented by the executive board. SAGA is governed by an executive board elected by members of the program's honor society, Chi Sigma Alpha.
