Environmental Technology and Assessment
Overview
SIUE’s environmental technology and assessment emphasis focuses on applying scientific principles, advanced technologies, and regulatory frameworks to evaluate and mitigate environmental contamination. Students gain hands-on experience with field sampling, laboratory instrumentation, and data analysis to measure pollutants in air, water, and soil. The program covers risk assessment, geographic information system (GIS) applications, waste management regulations, and the development of sustainable solutions that protect ecosystems and human health.
Graduates pursue roles such as:
- Environmental consultants
- Environmental scientists or specialists
- Remediation specialists
- Sustainability or compliance managers
