Environmental/Water Resources Engineering
Overview
SIUE’s civil engineering specialization in environmental and water resources focuses on the skills and knowledge to handle the new engineering problems that arise from our industrial-oriented society. Environmental engineers work to balance economic considerations with environmental protection in civil engineering projects, supporting overall sustainability. In water resources, they assess watershed hydrology, a project’s impact on water resource systems and local riverine ecosystems, while also evaluating effects on the local economy and public health. Our program emphasizes research, design, teamwork, and leadership to prepare graduates to balance environmental, economic, and public health considerations.
