Welcome back!
We could not be more excited to be resuming course delivery today. As SIUE transitions to an online and alternative course delivery model, we ask for your patience and flexibility with the software systems and with each other. We know that some of our students, faculty and staff may have challenges with WIFI access. We have included information below. Additionally, we have provided some practical information for payroll timekeepers. We remain ever grateful for the extraordinary work you are doing.
Access to Internet Service and Mobile Hotspots by Provider
In accordance with the Federal Communications Council agreement, many providers will waive late fees, maintain service regardless of payment and open WIFI hotspots. Some providers are offering free WIFI for 60 days, or broadband access at discounted rates or no charge. Check directly with providers for updated information and availability.
- Altice USA: Free 60 days of 30 Mbps broadband solution to any new customer household
- Charter: Free internet access for 60 days
- Madison Communications: Free internet access for 60 days
- COMCAST: $9.95/month and access to public WIFI hotspots
- COX Communications: Low-income internet tier with no annual contract
- AT&T: $10/month for plan and access to public WIFI hotspots

- Verizon: free hotspots in many communities
Info about Drive-up WIFI Service at SIUE
Drive-up WIFI Service is available in the Woodland, Prairie and Evergreen parking lots. WIFI signal is strongest near the blue light emergency phones closest to each building. Drive-up WIFI Service provides internet access while allowing for social distancing to be maintained. This will provide high-speed internet access to students, faculty and staff without having to enter buildings. Learn more about how to connect to the Campus Wireless Network.
Payroll Timekeepers
Department timekeepers will not need to track time during this period. Employees paid semi-monthly will receive their pay on the basis of their actual salary amount. Bi-weekly paid employees will receive their normal pay on the basis of their FTE designation, i.e. their hourly pay rates at 37.5 hours, 40 hours, 50 percent, etc. Accounting for employees on leave going into this period will be trued up upon return to normal operations.
We will continue to update information, including resources, campus announcements, FAQs and campus operations on the SIUE Coronavirus website.
Continue to stay safe and be healthy,

Denise Cobb, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Rachel Stack, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement
