To the University Community,
Earlier this week, we confirmed that events, camps and conferences hosted by external, non-University groups for both indoor and outdoor uses through the end of 2020 are canceled.
This update will confirm that events, camps and conferences hosted by internal, University groups for both indoor and outdoor uses through the end of 2020 may continue provided that the activities conform to the Restore Illinois plan for Phase 4 found here. This applies to University groups and includes student organizations. The Restore Illinois plan limits gatherings to fewer than 50 people, requires face coverings and 6-foot social distancing.
For all events, event organizers should develop a pandemic risk safety plan and review the plan with their area Vice Chancellor or designee. There are additional provisions in the plan for outdoor athletic events that can be found here. Virtual options for events are strongly encouraged wherever practical.
Please note that this applies to the Alton, East St. Louis and Edwardsville locations. In this way, we can take another positive step toward reducing the spread of COVID-19. We will revisit the issue for spring semester events later this fall.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate through these complex times.
Be well and stay healthy,
Randy Pembrook, Chancellor
Denise Cobb, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Rachel Stack, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement
Rich Walker, Vice Chancellor for Administration
Jeffrey Waple, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
