To the University Community,
Thank you to everyone for your continued flexibility and commitment to making these last few weeks work in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. The Governor yesterday announced a continuation of “Stay-at-Home” through April 30, which will require another modification to our evolving work relations.
Movement outside of the home should continue to be limited to essential activities as outlined in the Order. You will continue to be able to visit the doctor and buy groceries, etc.
As has been the plan since the original order, some employees will be critical in supporting operations that will focus on facilitating distance education and services that support the health and well-being of those students living on campus. Your dean, director or supervisor will work with you to ensure that you understand your assignment moving forward.
SIUE will continue operations as we have since March 21.
- We will continue online instruction with critical support functions (e.g., faculty, IT support, tutoring, supplemental instruction, etc.).
- We will continue to support students who remain at SIUE on-ground and in University Housing with food and shelter.
- We will continue with registration and advising processes since students have planned and are ready for Summer and Fall registration, which has begun.
- We will continue to recruit a Fall 2020 class through virtual means.
- We will continue NECESSARY business, health and safety functions.
Be well and stay healthy,
Randy Pembrook, Chancellor
Denise Cobb, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Rachel Stack, Vice Chancellor for University Advancement
Rich Walker, Vice Chancellor for Administration
Jeffrey Waple, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
